Why are almost all celebrities so thin? Why do they put so much effort in losing weight? Because it’s their job! Celebrities have to worry about the fact that camera adds 10 pounds (4.5 kg) to your actual weight.
Michelle Tsai from Slate Magazine’s explains that taking pictures on the red carpet with bright illumination makes it hard for the camera to capture dimension and “Without the aid of shadows, light exposes the imperfections of the face and body and makes the resulting image bigger and flatter. That’s why everyone avoids white dresses which cast fewer shadows under even lighting except the thinnest actresses, like Nicole Kidman.
It is not like we are going to be photographed on the red carpet. If someone will take a picture of us it will probably be during sunlight. According to Michelle Tsai this is the best lightning since you will be able to capture dimension and without adding 10 pounds (4.5 kg) to your pictures. So now you don’t have to worry about losing those extra pounds for your holiday pictures!
The celebrities look great when photographed, but have you ever seen them in real life? I think your first reaction would be that they look a lot thinner than you remember seeing them in magazines, and then realize that you wouldn’t like to look that thin. It’s like the song that Alanis Morissette sang: “Isn’t it ironic, don’t you think?”
One part of their job description is to walk the red carpet and look beautiful so people will buy magazines, see their movie etc. But the difference between you and them is that they get paid looking gorgeous. With their enormous salary they can afford expensive personal trainers and chefs.
Cameron Diaz spends a lot of time in the gym. She also has a personal trainer at a cost of $80 per hour to work her entire upper body by doing boxing.
Supermodel Heidi Klum was back to her pre-pregnancy weight in six weeks”. Why? Because she has a job as a supermodel and was scheduled to do the Victoria Secret Fashion Show. Getting in shape in such a short period took a lot of work with 90-minute workouts four days a week. She also had high-protein meal-replacement shakes and low-carb diet with a total of 1700 to 2000 calories a day. Like most celebrities, she had a personal trainer, David Kirsch, who helped her with strength training and cardiovascular exercise.
Madonna is a real pro when it comes to having a body in perfect shape. She is 51 years old and despite giving birth to two children, her stomach is washboard flat. She is 5 ft 3 tall (160 cm) and weighs about 50 kg (110 lbs).
If you want a fit body like Madonna, you will have to get obsessed with fitness. Let’s see her fitness schedule.
By alternate different activities, she reduce the risk of injuring herself from overusing a specific muscle groups. She also relive strain in her muscles with 3 sessions of hour-long Shiatsu massage a week.
Madonna thinks fitness 24/7, even if she stays at hotels or go out for dinner. Madonna only stays in hotels that have excellent gyms. She does not eat in restaurants very often, because she has to know exactly what the dishes contain. She fills in a chart weekly recording her weight, body fat percentage and calories consumed. The only day she takes a day off from her workouts is on Christmas Day.
Unless you are a celebrity, you won’t get a dime for losing those extra pounds (that you really don’t need to lose). You won’t get any money from that investment (as the celebrities get from having their pictures taken). What you will get is less time with your friends since you have to go to the gym after your working hours. (Going to the gym is a part of a celebrity’s job description.)
When you finally have the time to hang out with friends you probably won’t enjoy it as much, since you are thinking about all the things you can’t eat. Unlike the celebrities, you don’t have a personal chef worrying about what you can or cannot eat. Perhaps you have kids, which minimize your valuable spare time even more. If you forgot, you are not a celebrity like Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who can afford several nannies around the clock.
They, as well as Madonna, have their personal staff of nannies, chefs, trainers, and nutritionists. They don’t have to cook, clean or baby-sit. They have people doing that for them so they can go to the gym everyday. When they come home they have prepared meals ready for them. With all that being fixed for them they also have time to socialize. You only have 24 hours every day at your disposal, use them wisely and don’t chase a fantasy image that won’t work for you, in your reality. It’s not a realistic goal to have a body like the celebrities, now is it?
Listen to someone who knows. Sarah Michelle Gellar said it straight out: “How can women be as thin as we are? We have personal trainers to work us out. We have specially prepared meals.”
Set up your own realistic goals that you can reach, step by step, and feel good about it every step of the way!
